Leafy vegetables such as Brassica rapa L.have been cultivated intensively and continuously on limited planting area for optimum vegetable production and quick returns. As a consequence of this cropping system, the plants were more susceptible to infection by soil-borne pathogen such as Pythium sp,causing pre-and pos-damping-off disease. The disease has been greatly controlled through the use of fungicides.
