AIDS is known to be the most serious outcome of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Most patients die within 2 years after diagnosis, while others are able to maintain long-term health while others may experience less serious diseases such as persistent generalized lymphadenopathy. When these people have generalized symptoms, they often indicate the performance of AIDS itself. Since 1979, the United States has found 24,000 AIDS cases, and an estimated 1.5 million people are infected with HIV. Fifteen percent of them have AIDS within eight years of infection and an unmanageable epidemic in Africa.
