The authors systematically studied the phytochemicals of Allium plants of the Liliaceae and found that they contain a variety of steroidal glycosides that are expected to become highly effective drugs. In a continuing study, fresh bulbs from Alliumjesdi-anum Boissier & Buhse, an Allium plant imported from a Japanese flower garden originating in Iran and Iraq, were studied and 2 were assigned to it.
