汽车及其它一些机器上的蜗杆,大多是渐开线蜗杆,其齿侧曲面为渐开螺旋面。但是,在试制、小批生产时,却往往不是按渐开螺旋面而是按阿基米德螺旋面加工。这是因为:前者工艺上的难度较大,切削刀具刃形复杂;后者难度较小,刃形简单。尽管如此,也不是所有的渐开线蜗杆都能用阿基米德蜗杆代替,这里有个界限问题。根据作者的体会:这个问题如解决得好,质量、成本和生产周期就可以取得令人满意的结果。
