At the end of April 1976 and beginning of May, the first New Zealand Prime Minister Malden paid a visit to China. On the 20th of June of the same year, Australian Prime Minister Frazer paid a visit to China. In early September, Western Samoa (renamed Samoa in July 1997) Lee’s second His Highness visited China for the first time. On October 11, Papua New Guinea’s Prime Minister Somare visited China. On October 12, China and Papua New Guinea formally signed the communique on the establishment of diplomatic relations. At that time, four of the five countries that established diplomatic relations with China in the South Pacific concentrated their visits to China in 1976, which is a hot blast in the South Pacific. Due to space constraints, this time only introduces the behind-the-scenes that I personally experienced leaders of New Zealand and Western Samoa visit China.
