第六章一份艰难的刊物 1937年上海失陷后,大批文艺工作者从香港转往内地。茅盾也是如此,到香港后,转往广州,又挤上了北去的列车,来到长沙。长沙已有在街头宣传抗战的宣传队,十分热闹。茅盾在长沙除了参加长沙文艺界为他举行的一次茶话会,还应邀去作了一次公开演讲。演讲的第二天,便有人上门请教。德沚把客人引进来,茅盾才看清是个20多岁的年轻人。他穿着半新的黑色棉袍,浅黑色的脸颊上,一双富有南国特色的深陷的黑眼睛。他彬彬有礼地说: “昨天在‘银宫’听了沈先生的演讲,颇有同感,我想我们每个人都应为抗战尽一分薄力。我也爱好文学,苦于没有人指教,听说您到长沙,我就想听听您的教诲。昨天从张天翼先生那里打听到您的住址,所以就斗胆来此请您赐教。”
