Objective To investigate the expression of NKG2D and Treg cells in peripheral blood of esophageal cancer patients and its clinical significance. Methods Flow cytometry was used to detect the expression of NKG2D in peripheral blood of 140 patients with esophageal cancer and 51 healthy controls and the percentage of CD4 + T regulatory T cells. The relationship between the expression of NKG2D and the levels of CD4 + T in esophageal cancer TNM staging and regulatory T cells Correlation with NKG2D. Results The expression of NKG2D in peripheral blood of patients with esophageal cancer was lower than that of healthy controls (P <0.001). The expression of regulatory T cells was higher in healthy controls (P <0.001). NKG2D was negatively correlated with regulatory T cells (r = -0.346, P <0.001). Twelve percent of the total NKG2D expression variation was associated with regulatory T cells (R2 = 0.120). Conclusion The expression of regulatory T cells and NKG2D in peripheral blood of patients with esophageal cancer are related to TNM staging. Regulatory T cells inhibit NKG2D-mediated NK cell anti-tumor function.
