2003年11月7日,中国的古琴被联合国教科文组织列为“口头和非物质的”世界文化遗产,在中国,仅有昆曲和古琴获此殊荣,这让许多古琴爱好者欢欣鼓舞,也让人们开始关注古琴这一中国最古老、最具文化内涵的乐器。那些散落民间,自称“琴人”的古琴研究、推广者也开始逐渐被人们注意到。刘彦忠,一个昆明的“琴人”,他为了推广古琴,几乎放弃一切,被昆明本地媒体称为“琴痴”,中央电视台也曾两度采访他,并作了专题报道。刘彦忠的痴迷从何而来?他在“挽救中国文化遗产”的事业中,能够担负起多少责任,又能起到多少作用?2004年7月,记者在昆明采访了刘彦忠。
