航空货物运输有比旅客运输更加复杂的维度。航空公司旅客业务完全是一个消费者市场,数以亿计的旅客独立地做出购买决策;而货运业务是一个企业市场,由一些专业买家做出决策。和旅客相比,货物是被动的,需要在出发地提货,在目的地交付,而且货物需要保险、包装、清关、文书工作。这些任务由专业的货运代理人承担,这就意味着航空公司依赖这些公司的产品。正是由于货物无生命的特征,航空货运比客运更加灵活,它不关心飞机调整、航线中转、飞机机舱的美观
