如果说3G 是2003年曝光率最高的词语,那么时间跨入2004年,另一个概念则成为众人注目的中心,成为业界追捧的热点,它就是 NGN——下一代网络。NGN 到底有多么神奇,让我们想象一下:世界上的所有物品都有可能进入网络世界,所有的一切都可以通过网络来调控,医生在千里之外就能为患者解除病痛……这一切难道仅仅是想象?实际上,这在 NGN 上都将不是幻想,NGN 将会迎来真正的数字化,3～5年之后,一个能够实现智能化供给的信息网络将使这一切实实在在走入普通百姓的生活。2004年,NGN 的发展呈现出了更为务实的特点。目前,有关 NGN 的标准和技术正在制订当中,关于NGN 服务模式和内容的探讨也在进行当中。在此基础上,NGN 可能会在2005年～2006年步入启动阶段。

After 3-5 years, an information network capable of realizing intelligent provisioning will make it all into the ordinary people life. In 2004, the development of NGN showed a more pragmatic characteristic. At present, the NGN standards and technologies are under development. Discussions on the NGN service model and content are under way. On this basis, NGN may be in the 2005 ~ 2006 into the start-up phase.
