“对抗、毁灭、崇高”是西方悲剧应具备的主要因素。西方悲剧人物同时还必须具备一定的叛逆思想、一意孤行的执著精神、孤独无助的悲凉感。《俄狄普斯》、《哈姆雷特》等震振人心的伟大悲剧,切实地体现了西方戏剧理论的悲剧定义。但若以此定义来观照中国古典戏曲悲剧,无论是窦娥,还是“赵五娘”,以及“杜丽娘”等剧目及人物,都很难契合。偶然发现京剧《挑华车》中的高宠,恰恰符合西方悲剧的理论定义,高宠这个人物的发展道路与西方悲剧的三要素完全吻合。一意孤行的叛逆性格;面对死亡,在孤独无助中,毅然决然走向死亡;从而,崇高之感油然而生
