This article describes a method for the determination of iodine in natural water, rock, soil and plants. The method is based on the Scheidell-Korschoff reaction, ie the catalytic effect of iodine on the reaction between As ~ (3+) and Ce ~ (4+). This method has been used by Technicon Auto Analyzer. This method is fast enough to measure 100-125 samples per week (40 hours). As little as 0.04 ppm of iodine can be measured without the prior concentration of the sample after it is fused with sodium carbonate-potassium carbonate and MgO. The precision of the method was 25.9% for the rock sample containing 0.22 ppm iodine and 5.08% for the rock sample containing 4.46 ppm iodine. This method is ideal for geochemical prospecting.
