According to data from China Index Institute, the cumulative transaction area in 44 major cities monitored in April 2014 decreased by 9% quarter-over-quarter and 19% year-on-year, falling to a historically low level. On a quarterly basis, 29 cities declined, while Xiamen saw the largest decrease of 45%. Dandong saw the largest increase of 78%. On a year-on-year basis, 34 cities declined, while Hangzhou saw the largest decrease, reaching 61%. Dandong also recorded the highest year-on-year increase of 169%.
