Stopping at the University of Texas at EL Paso during his lecturing in U. S. A. in the autumn of 1981, at the invitation and warm reception of Prof. Dr. K. F. Clack, the writer had the opportunity to visit the White Sands National Monument, New Mexico.There occur snowy dunes covering nearly 77,000 hectares looking like an open sea with silver billows. The sand grains are made of gypsum instead of quartz commonly seen in other dunefields. Perhaps this is the first reason why a scenic view so beautifully
