近几年来,中阶梯光栅直读仪的应用,有了很大的发展。主要是因为它体积小、色散率大、灵敏度和精确度高。同时采用微型电子计算机控制操作程序并进行数据处理,使操作简化,是发射光谱分析的一种新型仪器。中阶梯光栅直读仪曾在科研、生产中发挥了一定的作用,但多数是采用DCP光源。采用ICP光源,是因为它对于提高精确度更为有益。 ICP光源与中阶梯光栅光谱仪联机使用最先是由Berman等进行研究的。1981年Anderson等报导了由电子计算机控制的全扫描中阶梯单色仪。现在,日本生产的Yanaco UOP-1型配备ICP光源,电子计算机控制的中阶梯单色仪已有商品仪器出售。
