Objective: To understand the drinking water quality after the earthquake in Aba Prefecture. Methods: Sixty-three water samples collected in hardest hit areas in six counties were tested and evaluated according to “Standard Test Method for Domestic Drinking Water” (2006). Results: The pass rate in 63 water samples was 71.42%. The items that did not meet the national standards were coliform bacteria, heat-resistant coliform bacteria, Escherichia coli, macroscopic matter, turbidity, aluminum, iron and manganese. Conclusion: The water quality of six counties after the earthquake was generally good. Toxicological and radioactive indicators were in line with national standards. The non-conforming indicators were microbial indicators, sensory indicators and general chemical indicators. The unqualified drinking water should take an effective approach to deal with in order to ensure the safety of the general population drinking water after the disaster.
