Objective: To explore the relationship between trace elements levels in children and height and weight, and to provide scientific basis for the formulation of diet. Methods: The peripheral blood of 3 ~ 6 years old nursery in a kindergarten of Nanjing City was tested by atomic absorption spectrometry for 6 kinds of trace elements. Results: The trace elements of Cu, Mg, Fe and Pb in 203 infants were in the normal range, while 4.4% and 3.0% of infants were lack of Ca and Zn deficiency. The levels of Zn, Fe and Pb in different age groups were Statistical significance, and increased with age. Multiple regression analysis showed that the levels of Zn, Mg and Pb in peripheral blood of young children positively correlated with the height of young children. CONCLUSION: Most young children have normal levels of trace elements, low rates of Ca and Zn deficiency, and continue to maintain the existing diet. However, attention should be paid to the increase of Zn, Fe and Pb contents with age.
