在英语中，有一些名词、副词、分词、介词短语当作连词使用，引导状语从句，本文对此作一归纳。
1. 名词短语引导时间状语从句。
（1）the moment, the minute, the second, the instant 等引导时间状语从句。译为“一……就……”，相当于as soon as。例如：
The moment she comes, I’ll tell her.
The minute I heard the voice, I knew mother was coming.
注意： for a moment（ 一会），for the moment（目前，暂时）， 他们是介词短语，作时间状语。
（2）every time, each time, next time, the first time, any time 等名词短语引导时间状语从句，表示“每次”、“下次”、“第一次”、“任何时候”。例如：
Every time he was in trouble, I would help him.
The first time I saw her, l liked her.
The last time I met him, he was in Beijing.
You are welcome to come back any time you want to.
注意：for the first time（第一次），at any time（在任何时候），是介词短语，作时间状语。
2. 副词引导时间状语从句。
ｉmmediately, instantly, directly, presently 等引导时间状语从句，译为“一……就……”。例如：
The boy burst into tears immediately he saw his mother.
I’ll call on you instantly I arrive.
3. 分词引导条件状语从句。
provieded(that)“如果”；supposing / suppose(that)“假使”；considering“考虑到”；given“如果”；seeing“鉴于”等分词引导条件状语从句。例如：
Provided(that)her friends go, she will go, too.
Supposing they refuse me, who else can I turn to for help?
Considering his age, he got a good mark.
Given more time, I would complete it better.
4. 常见的介词短语作连词。
for fear (that) 唯恐；in case万一，以防； on condition that条件是； in order that 为了……例如：
He hid himself behind the tree for fear that his father might find him.
Takｅ an umbrella with you in case it rains.
You can ｋｅｅｐ my bｏｏｋ on condition that you take care of it.
I work hard in order that I can pass the exam.
