由于盘铣刀在轴向和径向两个方向均要承受负荷,所以它必须具有较高的刚性。通过适当地选择刀具几何形状和可转位刀片的安装方式,可使所出现的切削力在刀具的任何位置上均可达到平衡。图中所示的盘铣刀,由于可转位刀片是切向交错安装的,所以切削起来轻快。同时,铣刀具有正的轴向前角和较大的容屑空间。铣刀具有负的径向前角,可提高刀片的刃口强度,并且当前角大于90°时,切削无振动。因此,用该种铣刀切削时,可采用大的进给量和高的切削速度。

By proper choice of tool geometry and indexable insert mounting, the resulting cutting forces can be balanced anywhere on the tool. The disc cutter shown in the figure is cutting lightly because the indexable inserts are tangentially staggered. At the same time, the mill has a positive axial rake angle and a large chip space. The cutter has a negative radial rake angle that increases the edge strength of the insert and does not vibrate when the angle is greater than 90 °. Therefore, with this milling cutter, you can use a large amount of feed and high cutting speed.
