莴笋性喜冷凉,忌高温,稍耐霜冻,常州地区一般在冬春栽培,4~5月份上市。秋播,因受高温,干旱及长日照的影响,容易发生抽薹而降低食用价值,故种植不多。我所从1985年开始引进秋莴笋试种和观察,摸索其生长发育特点,并进行推广,种植面积逐年扩大。实践表明:本地区栽培秋莴笋,只要选用适宜的品种,适期播种,遮阳育苗,加强肥水管理,能够克服先期抽薹现象,于秋末初冬供应市场,亩产可达2000~3000公斤,亩产值400~600元。
