The present invention relates to an optical seeker. More specifically, the present invention relates to a seeker that operates in a combination of infrared and visible light. In guiding missiles and other aircraft to a predetermined target, the target is usually captured and tracked by a device on the missile that detects the target electromagnetic energy. This energy can be in the radio frequency range or in the optical spectral range. Previously, a radiant energy combination system was used at the seeker to exploit the advantages given by one type of radiant energy or another. However, the sensors and guides of these systems are generally not as compact and complex in structure, especially as systems that are used on less expensive small missiles.
