莎乐美和朱迪丝是希伯来圣经故事中的人物,两者故事原型所表达的主旨是相异的。前者以无故少女受母亲蛊惑取下约翰首级为由赞扬约翰的舍身取义成为圣徒;后者作为手无缚鸡之力的妇女借由上帝的荣光英勇就义拯救百姓,荣耀上帝。克里姆特的朱迪丝在编辑笔下被重新冠以莎乐美之名,而莎乐美和朱迪丝也恰恰在世纪末(Fin-de-Siecle)的艺术洪流中汇成同一个象征,指向当代女性(19世纪)。

Judith Judith is reprized under the editor’s name by Salome, and Salome and Judith coincide with the same symbol at the Fin-de-Siecle art torrent, pointing to contemporary women (19 century).
