According to the Japan Electronic Measuring Instrument Manufacturers Association, the demand for electronic measuring instruments in the world in 2002 will increase by 5.9% from the previous year to 1,480 billion yen (see Table 1). However, Japan’s demand for electronic measuring instruments will be reduced by 9% to approximately 303.8 billion yen. According to forecasts, in the global demand for electronic measuring instruments, North America accounted for 33.1%; Europe accounted for 19.9%; Japan accounted for 20.6%; other regions in Asia accounted for 22.3%; the rest of the world accounted for 4%. According to analysis, the relatively large demand for testing in Asia is due to the relocation of production bases in many countries to China.
