对于高晓声的评论,一般认为他是描写当代农村的高手,又或是继承了鲁迅批判社会的笔触。不过如果纵观高晓声的全部作品,就显得不够中肯。其实高晓声的小说根据其迥异的风格可略分为两类:除《李顺大造屋》和“陈奂生系列”这些典型现实主义小说外,他还创作了具有《山中》、《鱼钩》、《绳子》、《钱包》、《飞磨》、《心监》等现代意识的小说,这部分的小说才是他文艺理想的真正的体现,而这恰恰是高晓声小说研究者一直忽略或语焉不详的部分。正是因为这份现代意识,高晓声的小说才会从写实描写农村的生活转而描写人物,从描写人物转向深入人物灵魂和处境,故他不仅农村小说卓有成就,而且还写出了一系列呈现现代主义色彩的小说。这篇论文试图从他的文艺思想和作品来研究他小说所蕴含的现代意识。

This essay attempts to study the modern consciousness contained in his novels from his literary thoughts and works.
