自从1993年12月美国休斯公司发射了第一颗数字压缩电视直播卫星以来,卫星数字电视直播产业就在全球形成一股发展热潮,并且迅速进入了商业化轨道。根据美国联邦通信委员会对多频道市场竞争的报告,从1998年6月到1999年6月,美国直播卫星电视订户从720万户家庭增长到1010万,占全部多频道订户的12.5%;与此同时,通过当地授权的有线电视运营商接收多频道节目的订户占全部多频道订户的比重则由上年的85%下降到82%。截止到1999年6月,美国有线电视订户为6670万,只比上年增长了2%,而非有线订户则从1998年6月的1120万户增长到1999年6月的1420万户,增长率达26%。可见,卫星数字电视直播业的发展已经对有线电视网络的市场份额产生了冲击。据悉,中国预计于2003年发射第一颗直播卫星,70%的山区地貌,使得中国成为最适合发展卫星直播电视、且拥有最巨大潜在市场的少数几个国家之一。为了解我国电视直播发展的前景,记者特采访了国泰君安证券研究所研究员谭晓雨。
