地质矿产部与法国国家科研中心于1984年6月在成都签署了《关于开展地学科技合作会谈纪要》,其中第二个项目:“岩溶水文地质研究”,拟在桂林建立岩溶水文地质试验场,用定量方法研究岩溶含水介质(饱和带及非饱和带)的结构、成因及岩溶水系统的水动力场、化学场、温度场的特征,三水转化关系,建立研究区的岩溶含水介质模式及水量、水质数学模型。地矿部及地科院将这一任务下达岩溶地质研究所。法国由蒙彼利埃朗格多克科技大学水文地质实验室与我方合作。
