孕激素与孕激素核受体结合,通过结合靶基因上的激素应答元件,调节靶基因表达,孕激素的这种作用被称为基因作用。但许多实验已证明,孕激素可不依赖孕激素核受体的转录活性产生快速调节作用,这些作用被称为孕激素的非基因作用。对于孕激素的非基因作用可以通过孕激素核受体与孕激素膜受体实现。对于孕激素非基因作用的研究对动物和人的许多生理变化有新的理解,并为激素依赖性恶性肿瘤的发生和药物治疗研究开辟了新的前景。
Progesterone binds to progesterone nuclear receptors and regulates target gene expression by binding to hormone-responsive elements on the target gene. This effect of progestins is termed gene action. However, many experiments have shown that progesterone can generate rapid regulation independent of the transcriptional activity of progesterone receptors. These effects are called non-genetic effects of progestins. Non-genetic effects of progesterone can be achieved by progesterone nuclear receptors and progesterone membrane receptors. The study of non-genetic effects of progestin has a new understanding of many physiological changes in animals and humans and opens up new prospects for the development of hormone-dependent malignancies and drug treatments.
