华侨教育,尤其是华侨的高等教育,在我国素称薄弱,而华侨在近现代史上的作用与影响,却又十分巨大,这种严重不相称的状况,显然是极不合理的。为了改变这种情况,不少热心教育的仁人志士,付出了大量心血,取得了很多成绩。其中,长暨南大学达十一年、经历整个抗日战争的艰苦岁月,在颠沛流离中独力维系华侨高等教育一脉的何炳松先生,尤堪称道。何炳松(1890年10月18日—946年7月25日),字柏丞,浙江金华人,早年留学美国,获硕士学位。回国后,长期从事学术研究、教育、出版工作,
