The heartbroken grass (also known as hook-and-swallow, and vine) is Gelsemium ele-gans Benth, a plant of the genus Moneyaceae. The whole plant contains seven kinds of indole alkaloids, including Humantania, which are highly toxic and often cause death. When we explored the mechanism and treatment of heartbroken poisoning, the median lethal dose of the decoction of different parts of the cuttlebone was determined according to the top and bottom method. The results showed that the LD_(50) of mice required the amount of crude drug per kilogram of body weight. The root number was 0.0798g, the old stem was 1.309g, the tender stem was 1.830g, the leaf was 0.255g, the flower was 0.458g, and the fruit was 1.275g. It was confirmed that the heartbrowed was indeed toxic to the whole plant, and the root was the most toxic, and the leaves and flowers were the next. The stems and fruits are weak and it is confirmed that the old stems are more toxic than the tender stems.
