在中国近代史上,澳门这块特殊的土地,和祖国内地的命运紧密相联。早在鸦片战争时期,林则徐就将澳门作为禁烟和反抗外来侵略的重要阵地,留下了不可磨灭的历史足迹。 1839年3月10日,林则徐作为钦差大臣到达广州,厉行禁烟。当时的澳门,是鸦片的集散地之一,也是鸦片贩子从海外进入内地的渠道。18日,林则徐责令外国商人尽数呈交鸦片,并禁止一切外国商人离开广州前往澳门。英国商务监督义律唯恐中国官府前来缉捕藏在澳门的英国奸商,于22日请求澳门总督委黎多保护在澳的英国居民。
In the modern history of China, this special land of Macao is closely linked with the fate of the motherland. As early as during the Opium War, Lin Zemin left Macao with an indelible historical footprints as an important front for banning smoking and resisting foreign aggression. On March 10, 1839, Lin Zexu arrived in Guangzhou as imperial envoy to enforce a ban on smoking. At the time, Macau was one of the opium distribution centers and a conduit for opiate traffickers to enter the Mainland from overseas. On the 18th, Lin Zexu ordered foreign businessmen to submit all opium and banned all foreign businessmen from leaving Guangzhou for Macau. British business supervision righteous law lest the Chinese government officials to arrest the British profiteers hiding in Macao on the 22nd, requesting the Governor of Macau to protect the British residents in Australia.
