Objective To investigate the correlation between periodontal and pulpontal lesions and common periodontal pathogens in order to reduce the infection of periodontal pathogens and provide the basis for clinical practice. Methods Totally 36 patients with dental pulp disease who suffered from periodontal damage during March 2011 to July 2013 in our department were enrolled in the study. Forty-seven teeth were selected as the observation group. The positive control specimens for pathogen detection were selected from patients with severe periodontitis 5 For example, in the negative control group, eight healthy premolar teeth were selected for orthodontic treatment, and two-step PCR for detection of suspected pathogens was performed. Results In the observation group, 20 samples were positive and the positive rate was 42.55%. 36 strains of pathogens were detected, of which 44.44% were Bacillus species, 22.22% were Prevotella intermedia, Porphyromonas gingivalis 16.66%, Porphyromonas Pseudomonas, accounting for 13.89% and Fusobacterium nucleatum accounting for 2.79% respectively. No pathogen was detected in isolated dental samples of negative control group, and the detection rate was 0. Conclusion The main infection of periodontal and pulp combined with pathological lesions is suspected pathogens of periodontal disease.
