Last week, external donors aiding developing countries agreed to double funding for forest research by 1995, accelerating the pace of international research efforts to reduce deforestation and its environmental degradation in tropical forests. Bilateral and multilateral donors, development banks, non-governmental organizations and researchers gathered near London to discuss the report of the International Task Team on Tropical Forest Research, which was formed in February this year.
