On the day of June in San Jose, the weather was warm and slightly hazy. However, no one noticed this in a windowless conference room, and nobody cared about it. Around Dataquest’s conference table, a group of high-tech analysts from domestic authorities are using all the solutions to explain what they are focusing on. This scene happened in 1990. Software giant Lotus and Internet star Novell (the company just announced the plan for the merger. The audience is an eight-member team from the transaction auditing company Ernst & Young, they want to find out how the merger will actually operate, whether it is necessary to merge. In more than five hours, Dataquest’s analysis experts analyzed in detail and discussed a series of issues, such as possible conflicts of interest, market share, unified delivery, marketing channels, and two corporate cultures.
