羽衣甘蓝(Brasiica olerceaVar. acephala),又名花包菜、叶牡丹、牡丹菜、羽叶甘蓝,为十字花科甘蓝属一二年生草本观叶植物。株高约40厘米,茎直立,无分枝,叶柄短,紧密着生于短茎上。叶宽大,倒卵形,被白霜,叶面卷曲,酷似我们食用的包菜(见封面)。其观赏品种很多,有深裂叶、皱叶、不皱叶,叶缘呈翠绿、灰绿、墨绿,叶中心颜色更是丰富多彩,有白、黄、紫红、粉红、玫瑰红等色,是观赏的主要部分。花为总状花序,有小花20～40朵,花期4月,花淡黄色,4～5月种子成熟,观叶期为11月至次年3～4月。
