计算社会经济现象在一定时期的平均发展速度,常用的方法有水平法和累计法。其中水平法因其计算简便而得到广泛应用。但在某些场合,如经济变动起幅较大的时期,用水平法计算的结果难以反映事物真实的平均发展变化程度,此时宜用累计法计算,只是累计法计算要解一元高次方程的根,现行《社会经济统计学原理》教科书大都介绍查表法,在缺乏计算表的情况下难以使用。这里给出一种简便的计算方法。假定按平均发展速度(X推算的各期发展水平理论数值总和等于各期发展水平实际数值总和,即
