本文从英汉电影字幕翻译本土化现象入手,首先对“本土化翻译”进行界定,探讨本土化翻译与归化翻译的区别。在此基础上,笔者利用调查问卷与访谈的方法研究了国内字幕翻译的本土化现象,试图解释这种现象产生的背景、影响其发展的因素、其未来发展趋势等问题。调查问卷主要揭示了该现象一个重要参与者,即电影观众对该现象的看法和理解。数据显示,超过半数的受访观众对目前电影字幕翻译的“本土化”持肯定的态度。另外,对六位相关人士的访谈则从更深层次阐释了该现象涉及各方对它的理解和建构。受访者对这一现象持不同的态度,他们的态度受到了译制流程、受众、目的、质量控制和译制过程的参与者等多个因素的影响,并最终影响了这一现象的未来发展趋势。进一步分析发现,国内英汉电影字幕翻译的本土化是中国文学多元系统多因素博弈的结果。
This paper begins with the localization of subtitles in English and Chinese movies. First of all, it defines the “localization translation” and discusses the differences between localized translation and domestication translation. On this basis, the author uses the method of questionnaire and interview to study the localization of domestic subtitle translation, trying to explain the background of this phenomenon, the factors that affect its development and its future development trends. The questionnaire mainly reveals an important participant in this phenomenon, namely, the movie audience’s perception and understanding of this phenomenon. Data show that more than half of the survey respondents hold affirmative attitude toward the “localization” of current movie subtitle translation. In addition, the interviews with the six stakeholders explained the phenomenon from a deeper level of understanding that all parties involved in this phenomenon should understand and construct it. Interviewees took different attitudes towards this phenomenon, and their attitude was influenced by many factors such as the process of translation, audience, purpose, quality control and participants in the process of translation, which eventually affected the future development trend of this phenomenon . Further analysis found that the localization of domestic English movie subtitle translation is the result of multi-factor game of Chinese literature multi-system.
