This study reviewed the original American Thyroid Association (ATA) classification of orbital changes in Graves disease, analysis of ATA classification of the improvement, the second improvement, in order to make this classification more useful. In 1960 Werner proposed a formal and systematic arrangement of the types of ocular signs. The first letter of the definition of each rating is joined together as “NO SPECS”. 1977 published the original classification of improvements. Similarly, there are two types: simplified type, detailed type. The original name and classification retained, still “NOSPECS”. Simplified: Level 0 - No signs or symptoms. Grade I - Only signs, asymptomatic (signs limited to upper eyelid withdrawal, staring, eyelid backward). Grade II - involving soft tissue (symptoms and signs). Ⅲ level - eyeball prominent. Ⅳ level - involving the extraocular muscles. Grade V - involving the cornea. Ⅵ level - loss of vision (involving the optic nerve). Details: Grade 0 - No signs or symptoms. Grade I - Only signs. Ⅱ grade - soft tissue involvement, symptoms and signs. 0, etc. - none, a, etc. - least amount, b, etc. - moderate amount, c, etc. -
