Although Huang Kan’s theory of semantic thinning incorporates many ideas of Xuan Lao Xue, this is a reflection of the times. It also inherits the teachings of Confucianism and Confucianism, even the theory of Buddhism. This essay aims at the language traces left by Huang Kan’s “Theory of Semantic Meaning and Sparseness” to further observe the voice features of the times in the Southern Dynasties. The language clues contained in these annotations are not imitable and available to the descendants, but rather to the linguistic features of the people at that time. The two examples cited in this paper show that the meaning of each Chinese character in Huang Kan’s Annotation is alive and in a state of change anytime, anywhere. The actual situation of the Six Dynasties languages is glimpsed from the annotated texts. In terms of pronunciation, meaning, grammar Etc. have great research value.
