毋庸置疑,香港剧作家的“本土意识”是与香港即将回归祖国的时代背景密切相关的。长期以来的殖民统治和现代资讯的高度发达,使得香港戏剧的运作比较倾向于西方,翻译剧的演出在戏剧演出总量中,占有相当大的比例。而随着“九七”的临近,剧作家们开始关注香港与香港人的问题,对历史的追寻与对现实的关注,带动了香港创作剧的振兴,从而也使戏剧在总体情境上多了一份沧桑感和反思意味。
There is no doubt that the “local consciousness” of Hong Kong dramatists is closely related to the background of the imminent return of Hong Kong to the motherland. The long history of colonial rule and the highly developed modern information have made the operation of Hong Kong drama more western. The performance of the drama has a large proportion of the total number of theatrical performances. With the approaching of “1997”, the dramatists began to pay attention to the problems of Hong Kong and Hong Kong people.
