The physico-chemical properties of the glucocorticoid receptor (GR) in the adrenalectomized rat myocardium were studied in this paper. The authors found that rat cardiac myocytes have a heterogeneous receptor protein. This diversity is evident when using different classes of steroids, different elution conditions, and resins; however, if chromatographed prior to equilibration with hormones, the receptor may be inactivated by lack of substrate.
