如果说新诗发轫于零传统自觉,可能过于绝对;而这种观点,细想起来,又确实在很大程度上指向源头和真相。众所周知,胡适曾把《关不住了》视为我国新诗成立的纪元,然而此诗并非胡适的独创,而是他的译文:原作者乃是美国女诗人蒂丝黛尔(Sara Teasdale)。异域文化就这样忽而成全了新诗,同时也制造出中国传统文化的千丈断崖。诗人们坐上舶来的滑翔机,飞抵了拼音的操场。先天即诗的象形字,让庞德(Ezra Pound)着了迷的意象混沌,忽而响应了拼音的权势,逐步演变为符号化、逻辑化和工具化的现代汉语:双音节词和多音
It may be too absolute to say that the new poem is about zero-traditional self-consciousness. And this view, in retrospect, really points to the source and the truth to a large extent. It is well-known that Hu Shih considered “unable to shut down” as the era for the establishment of new Chinese poetry. However, this poem was not Hu Shi’s original creation but his translation: the original author was American poet Sara Teasdale. In this way, the exotic culture completes the new poem and at the same time creates the cliff of traditional Chinese culture. The poets sat on the glider that came, arrived at the Pinyin playground. The pictographic characters of innate poetry, so fascinated by the image of Ezra Pound, suddenly respond to the power of pinyin and gradually evolve into symbolized, logical and instrumental modern Chinese: disyllabic words and polyphony
