The effects of trace S c on the microstructure, mechanical properties and fracture morphology of Al-5% Mg alloy were studied by means of optical microscope, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and mechanical properties testing. The results show that the as-cast microstructure of the alloy containing 0.17% Sc is remarkably refined, and the dendritic structure is largely eliminated until a large amount of deformation structure is retained at 575 ° C.
