The authors analyzed the relationship between neuropsychiatric symptoms and the ratio of free branched chain amino acids / aromatic amino acids (BcAAs / AAAs) in patients with pulmonary encephalopathy and found that the BcAAs / AAAs ratio in patients with pulmonary encephalopathy was significantly lower than that in the control group (P <0.01) (P <0.05), and the ratio of BcAAs / AAAs was positively correlated with brain CT value (P <0.05); while the content of phenylalanine in patients with pulmonary brain disease (P <0.05), and its value was negatively correlated with CT value (P <0.05). These results support the doctrine that unbalanced neutral amino acid metabolism is involved in the pathogenesis of pulmonary disease.
