文学传播是整体的文学活动的一个方面。文学创作主要涉及作者,文学接受主要涉及读者,而在两者之间的文学传播中则是非人格的文化发挥作用。文学传播作为文化,首先是语言文化,语言不只是充当工具,也可以成为一种建构的力量;其次是传媒文化,传媒的形式成为铸造人的心灵的模具;再次是审美文化,传播中的一些状况就可能成为新的审美的动力。文学传播过程人的因素需要关注,而其作为文化又超越了具体的单个人。
