《唐虞之道》1993年出土于荆門郭店1號楚墓,是該墓出土的衆多竹簡中的一篇,收録于1998年出版的《郭店楚墓竹簡》。竹簡共存二十九枚,完整者二十二枚,下部殘缺部份者六枚,上下均殘去部份者一枚。視其長度,殘缺部份不多。完整簡長27.8至28.3厘米。簡有編綫兩道,編綫間距約14.3厘米。完整簡字數在二十四至二十八之間,多爲二十五或二十六字。殘簡長24.6至25.4厘米。簡寬一般在0.5厘米左右。整篇字數七百零六個(含合文六)。合文號作兩小橫。篇未有一粗橫。全篇無章號和句讀。原無篇題,整理者據簡文擬加爲《唐虞之道》。本篇的主題是宣揚禪讓,“高揚了儒家‘祖述堯舜’、‘愛親尊賢’、‘天下爲公’、‘利天下而弗利’的思想,顯示了先秦儒家在戰國時期崇尚‘禪讓’政治理想、反對父子相傳之‘家天下’的昂揚思想風貌”(李存山2000)。不過,簡文在突出禪讓的同時,也主張親親,體現了尊賢與親親的統一。此外,簡文還强調仁、義兼施和對民教化,體現了以民爲本的思想。本篇與上博簡《容成氏》、《子羔》等篇均討論禪讓,與傳世文獻《禮記·禮運》篇在內容上也有一定聯繫,說明禪讓問題在戰國中前期一度受到學者的關注,並在社會上産生較大影響。
