为了探索杉木萌芽林的生长规律和经营技术,1977年以来,我们在叙永、洪雅、邛崃筠连等县的国营林场,进行了杉木萌芽更新,幼林生长规律的观测和经营技术试验.试验地概况试验地位于东经103°15′—105°28′,北纬27°50′—30°20′的中山地带,海拔1000—1500米.年均温9.8—13.1℃,年降雨量1100—2000毫米,年日照600—900小时,植物生长期200—270天.土壤为沙岩、页岩等发育而成的山地黄壤和山地紫色土、PH4.5—5.5,植被以芒箕、紫箕、里白、狗脊等蕨类植物为主,其次有水竹、方竹、巴茅、马尔草等禾本科植物构成林下主要植被.
