A Cezanne “Turquoise Figure” and Its Dual Vision Cezanne painted a “Pines and Rocks” (Fig. 1) in his later years and is now housed in the Museum of Modern Art, New York [MoMA]. The museum’s official website describes it as follows: Unlike the vast expanse of landscapes often seen in Cezanne’s landscapes, this “turquoise map” depicts landscapes that are tightly framed and compressed by frames.
