天宁寺塔为砖木结构密檐式砖塔,塔身平面为八角形,塔体自下而上逐层外扩,形成上大下小呈伞状外观。为了更好地保护该塔,通过开挖探槽查明了古塔的基础形式和埋深,以了解基础的稳固性;运用MATLAB软件,通过自编程序和数字图像处理技术,准确获得天宁寺塔的倾斜关键参数;通过对天宁寺塔的现状结构及各种数据分析,明确该塔目前的倾斜和裂缝已经趋于稳定,对塔体结构暂不构成危害;通过对基础的地质勘查分析,得知能够满足该塔的承载力,承重结构中关键部位的残损点或其组合未影响结构安全和正常使用,整体结构较为安全。
