The surface relief of the as-cast ferrite (GBA) in Fe-0.37 ℃ (mass fraction) steel was observed by scanning tunneling microscopy. It was found that GBA did produce surface relief, which was only caused by GBA itself Rather than caused by the GBA and its plastic deformation in the matrix. The GBA surface embossment is formed only on the austenite grains on the grain boundary side, and the surface relief corresponding to the structure is not observed in the adjacent austenite grains. It shows that the interface between GSA and austenite is coherent or semi-coherent, while the interface with adjacent austenite may be non-coherent. GBA embossment height of 157-352nm, the maximum deformation of 0.37. GBA wide surface there is a giant step, the height of the step is about 300nm. While stimulating the nucleation pattern while ubiquitous in GBA, all of these indicate that GBA is formed by stimulating a nucleation-and-growth mechanism
