In order to study the function of GhGA20ox1, a cotton GA20-oxidase homolog, the gene was transferred into N. benthamiana for overexpression. RT-PCR analysis showed that GhGA20ox1 gene was expressed at different levels in transgenic plants. Overexpression of the GhGA20ox1 gene promoted GA4 + 7 synthesis in the present invention and led to a phenotype of gibberellin excess. The degree of phenotypic change in the transgenic tobacco was consistent with the expression level of GhGA20ox1 gene and the content of GA4 + 7.
